New visual identity with a new design concept
Client: Elon Group
Globen, the largest spherical building in the world, is being renamed Avicii Arena after the world famous Swedish musical star.
Following the acquisition of Sapa, the world ́s leading aluminium extrusion company, Norwegian aluminium giant Hydro embarked on a new journey with a new visual identity. After a thorough procurement process, FocusNeo was selected as partner to manage the signage rollout of the new profile across several continents.
In 2017, Sapa was acquired by Hydro to become Hydro’s new Extruded Solutions business area. A big step forward for Hydro that led to a global renewal process, a new visual identity and a rebranding of more than 150 offices and production sites around the world. Due to size and scale, the rebranding task was complex with many stakeholders involved and high demands for transparency and safety routines.
New visual identity reflects Nordic heritage
Designed by the Oslo and New York-based architecture and design firm Snøhetta, Hydro’s new logo retains the distinctive “sail” of past logos to reflect the company’s Norwegian heritage and business continuity. The more modern look also acknowledges the renewal of Hydro as a company.
A large-scale project around the world
The implementation faced several major challenges with its complexity. Each office and site hold its own unique conditions, that placed high demands on effective project management, local knowledge and well-established safety routines. In addition, the project time frame was limited as the new identity was to be launched on a fixed date together with the new signage. FocusNeo managed the re-signage of 13 main sites including project management and customized solutions for external and internal signage. The project was carried out in close cooperation with our global partner network, using local professionals to secure all field services. The new identity and first signs were revealed simultaneously on six sites on three continents.
